Tim Eifert - BHSc., Registered Massage Therapist

Tim, a native of Stratford, Ontario, embarked on his massage therapy journey after graduating from London’s D’arcy Lane Institute in 2000. He honed his skills in orthopedic assessment and exercise rehabilitation during the early stages of his career in Windsor, Ontario.

In 2001, Tim returned to London to establish his own private practice. The following year, he and his wife Jaime co-founded Priority Massage and Health. While managing the clinic, Tim dedicated himself to further education, earning a bachelor's degree in Health Sciences from Western University in 2006, deepening his understanding of anatomy, physiology, and nutrition.

Drawing on his orthopedic expertise, Tim customizes treatment plans for various conditions including sports injuries, repetitive stress issues, and workplace-related ailments. His therapeutic approach integrates manual Swedish massage therapy with modalities such as cupping therapy and personalized stretching/strengthening programs. With a personal background in competitive baseball and hockey, Tim finds fulfillment in working with elite athletes, aiding them in performance optimization and injury rehabilitation, whether they compete at the varsity or professional level.

Registered Massage Therapy:

Whether you need relief from chronic pain and muscle tension, help recovering from an injury, or just a moment of relaxation, therapeutic massage can enhance your physical and emotional well-being, and improve your performance and quality of life.

Massage therapy is a hands-on treatment that passively loosens and stretches tense or injured muscles. By improving circulation, massage therapy clears lactic acid and other waste, increases flexibility and mobility, and reduces pain and stiffness in muscles and joints.

Whether young or old, healthy or sick, everyone can benefit from massage. Some people see the immense benefits of giving themselves an hour of “me time”. Athletes use massage for its preventative effects both before and after training or competition. Others use massage to help them recover from illness, injury or stress

What to expect

Your massage appointment will begin with a brief review of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle, followed by a consultation where, together, we will develop a treatment plan that is right for you. If this is your first appointment, please arrive at least 15 minutes early so that we can spend as much time on the actual treatment as possible.

If you have any allergies or skin conditions that may be adversely affected by massage oil or lotion, please tell your RMT at this time.

After your initial consultation, your massage therapist will leave the room to wash his or her hands and to give you privacy while you undress. The type of massage we do works best when applied directly to the skin of the areas being treated. However, if you are for any reason uncomfortable with disrobing, let your therapist know and he or she can use certain techniques through your clothing.

After you are undressed, you can lie down on your stomach on the massage table and cover yourself with a clean cotton sheet and blanket while you wait for your massage therapist to return. Before re-entering the room, your RMT will knock on the door to make sure you are ready.

Before your massage begins, your therapist will adjust the face rest and pillows to ensure that you are comfortable and properly positioned. Your RMT will also adjust your blankets if you are too warm or too cold. Many clients enjoy listening to music during their massage, while others prefer silence – again, the choice is up to you. Just let your therapist know.

When you are ready, your massage therapist will uncover the part of your body to receive the massage - one area at a time - and will apply a light lotion or oil to reduce friction on your skin. It is important to tell your massage therapist if you would like more or less pressure. The choice is always yours.

Your RMT will continue in this way, uncovering only one part of your body at a time, until the session is over. Massage therapy appointments are usually scheduled for 30, 45, 60, 75 or 90 minutes; you will choose the length of your treatment when you book your appointment.

A full body massage usually begins with the back and then moves down to the legs and feet. You will then be asked to turn onto your back. The massage continues on your arms, legs, neck, and shoulders. A full body massage requires at least a 60- minute appointment time. Partial body massages are very common and are done when you only want to focus on certain problem areas, such as your back and neck, for example. You are free to change the areas to be massaged at any time. Just let your RMT know.

When your session is over, your RMT will leave the room so you can get dressed. Please feel free to take your time as you get up – if you sit or stand too quickly, you may feel lightheaded or dizzy.

Most people feel calm and relaxed after a treatment. Some experience mild aching in their muscles several hours after their massage. This is normal and should subside.

Further massage treatments are generally required for many conditions. A suggested course of treatment varies from one client to another. Your therapist will let you know at the end of your treatment when he or she feels you should reschedule for optimum benefits. For general health and maintenance, many people choose to schedule regular, monthly appointments.
